Surfaces can be defined in relative or absolute units. If your surface resolution has changed it's likely because it is defined in relative units which are expressed in normalized coordinates. In order to make your surface resolution fixed you will need to switch to absolute units which are expressed in pixels.
To change between relative and absolute units:
- open the Surface Editor
- select the surface you want to modify
- select the "Pixels" in the Surface Properties panel
- click Apply
